Emergency Road Closure Order – Market Street

ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984
SECTION 14(2): EMERGENCY TEMPORARY
PROHIBITION OF THROUGH TRAFFIC
Market Street, Dalton-in-furness
Notice is hereby given, that because of the likelihood of danger to the public, as a result of
emergency carriageway repair works Cumbria County Council hereby prohibits the passage of
vehicles along that section of Market Street, Dalton-in-furness from its junction with Abbey
Road extending in a easterly direction for a total distance of approximately 299.00 metres
This notice will be in force for a period of up to 21 days from 17th December 2020, as
and when the relevant signs are displayed. It is anticipated that the restriction will be
required for 7 days
A way for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will be maintained at all times.
A suitable alternative route for vehicles will be available as follows via Skelgate, Romney Park, Askam
Road, Dalton Bypass, A595 Roundabout, A590 From A595 Roundabout To Start Of Dualling North
West Of Ulverston Including Roundabout, Ulverston Road, Market Street

Nothing in this Notice shall:
1. Apply to emergency service vehicles, or vehicles being used by statutory undertakers in the
performance of their duties; and
2. Apply to anything done with the permission or at the direction of a police constable in
uniform; and
3. Have the effect of preventing at any time access for pedestrians to any premises situated on
or adjacent to the roads, or to any other premises accessible for pedestrians from, and only
from the roads; and
4. Apply to vehicles being used in connection with any repair works.
